Montage Engine is self-hosted software for creating slideshow-carousel content and publishing it to the operator's own TikTok account. This policy covers two things: this website (montageengine.com) and what the Montage Engine software does with data on the instances people run.

This website

montageengine.com is a static informational site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics scripts, and collects no personal information — with one exception: if you choose to join the hosted-version waitlist, the email address you submit is processed by our form provider and used solely to contact you about that. You can request its deletion at any time via the contact below.

The Montage Engine software

Montage Engine is installed and operated by the person who deploys it ("the operator"). Each instance runs on the operator's own infrastructure. The maintainers of Montage Engine have no access to any instance, and the software sends no telemetry, analytics, or usage data to us or to anyone else. This section describes what the software itself stores locally on an instance.

Content data

Project notes, generated ideas, scripts, deck definitions, and rendered slide images are stored in the instance's own database and content folder. Slide photography is fetched from Pexels using the operator's API key, with photographer attribution retained.

TikTok data

When the operator connects a TikTok account (via TikTok's OAuth consent flow), the instance stores, locally: OAuth access and refresh tokens; the account's public profile basics (display name, username, avatar); public metadata of the account's posts (titles, covers, links, posting times); and public engagement counters (views, likes, comments, shares) sampled over time to power the instance's own analytics charts. This data is used exclusively to show the connected account's own performance and to send the operator's own drafts to that account. It is never sold, shared, or transmitted to third parties, and the software requests only the minimum TikTok permissions needed for these features.

Disconnecting a TikTok account revokes its tokens with TikTok and deletes the account's tokens and associated TikTok data from the instance. TikTok users can additionally manage or revoke app access at any time from TikTok's own settings.

Third-party services

An instance communicates with services the operator configures — TikTok (publishing and metrics), OpenRouter (AI generation), Pexels (photography), and optionally Cloudflare (tunnel/access). Each is governed by its own privacy policy; content sent to them is limited to what the feature requires (e.g., prompts to OpenRouter, image URLs to TikTok).
