Changelog
What's changed, newest first. Small fixes ship continuously and don't all get a line here.
Build status you can actually see
- A floating build widget. Rendering progress now follows you around the editor instead of sitting in one panel, so you can keep editing while a deck rebuilds.
- "Edited — rebuilding shortly". Slides you've just changed say so, so there's no guessing whether your edit landed.
- Calmer re-rendering. Edits are batched for a few seconds before a rebuild starts, so typing through a slide no longer kicks off a render per keystroke.
- Fairer caps. The monthly cap now counts new decks rather than renders. Editing, re-rendering, and swapping themes on a deck you already made are unlimited.
Support and policies
- A support page with a contact form, and a published refund and cancellation policy.
- Privacy Policy and Terms of Service rewritten in full for the hosted product.
– August 2026 Image library, overlays, and background removal
- Your own image library. Upload artwork or save Pexels picks; library images are copied into your workspace rather than linked, so they don't rot out from under your decks.
- Overlay images. Place up to eight library images on any slide and drag, resize, rotate, and fade them directly on the slide preview — what you see while dragging is what renders.
- One-click background removal. Cut the background out of any library image without leaving the app. Because slides reference the library image, decks using it pick the cut-out up on their next render.
- Pexels photographer credit stays visible everywhere a Pexels photo appears, and a deleted image is skipped at render time rather than breaking the deck.
The board becomes the workflow
- Three lanes with drag and drop. Ideas → Slides → Done, and you move cards along by hand.
- Duplicate a finished deck, images and all, to make a variant.
- Seed new ideas from a deck that worked.
- Posted cards say so, and carry their view count on the board.
- Ask for a carousel of a given length instead of taking whatever you're given.
- A project is no longer tied to a single handle — what goes out to TikTok carries the connected account's real handle instead.
A new slide editor
- One card per slide — kicker, header, body, footnote, image, position — with a master row for the things that apply deck-wide. No markdown, no JSON, nothing to learn.
- Everything autosaves, and rewriting a slide redraws just that slide instead of the whole deck.
- Add, delete, and reorder slides freely, with image choices that survive a regenerate.
- Page numbers and a deck-wide background wash as first-class options.
- One button from a bare idea to rendered slides, with the theme picked for you if you don't pick one.
- A failed step retries through the right path instead of starting over.
Montage Engine becomes a hosted product
The rebuild that turned a private tool into a service anyone can sign up for.
- Accounts and private workspaces. Signing up creates a workspace of your own; every record in the system belongs to exactly one workspace and is scoped to it.
- Subscriptions. One plan at $5/month, cancel from inside the app.
- Cloud storage for all content, so decks and renders live somewhere durable rather than on a single machine.
- Bring your own AI. Connect an OpenRouter account in one click; models bill at cost on your account and we never mark up tokens.
- Export and delete buttons in Settings — a full copy of everything, or the removal of everything, with no ticket to file.
- Credentials that could act on your behalf are encrypted at rest, and publishing has per-workspace limits so nobody can spoil shared platform quotas for everyone else.
TikTok integration, and a name
- Send carousels to TikTok as drafts through the official Content Posting API, with title, caption, and cover slide.
- Post analytics — posting history, engagement counts snapshotted over time, and posts linked back to the decks that made them.
- The product got its name and its look.
First version
- The project board, a deck viewer with history, and zip export.
- The theme studio.
- Browserless rendering to 1080 × 1350 PNGs.
